Exploring Canada's smallest city

Greenwood BC, not exactly the first place that pops into your head when thinking about cities, it's probably not even the tenth, but at one time this now quirky little town was home to 3000 residents and bustling. On a recent road trip we spotted some adventure opportunities we couldn't resist and found ourselves headed south with a vague itinerary and a thirst for adventure. First up was Boundary falls, when we learned about the existence of these falls we had no idea we had driven past them many times. With no major signage and a google maps error its easy to miss this point of interest, but well worth the effort and the stop! When you first arrive you will see signs telling you about the smelter that once stood in the banks of the river and while its both beautiful and interesting, its not the main attraction at this stop. Following the many trails through the woods for a few minutes we began to hear the main event, and very quickly saw exactly what we were looking for!

After taking some time to explore and take in the beautiful views we were back on the road to our next stop, the tunnel of flags, a massive railway tunnel built in 1913. This abandoned beauty was filled in and forgotten about until 1993 when it was discovered and unearthed, now covered in graffiti, its hard to see the flags that gave this tunnel its name, but it hasn't lost its beauty!

Last stop of the day was a visit to the old smelter we've been dying to explore for years, commonly referred to as Hell's Bell's. Before arriving we were prepared for a hike into this one, but as fate would have it though a series of hopeful turns took us directly to it! This crumbling landmark is every abandoned explorers (or hobby photographers) dream, and we spent over an hour checking out the ruins of what was, in its time, referred to as "one of the most complete and modern smelters found in the world today".

After exploring the main smelter we spotted a trail leading down into the woods that lead us to a series of decaying buildings, a massive rock wall, and long abandoned machinery.
